ROME – A new programme launched by the International Organisation for Migration (IMO) will help UK nationals who want to regulate their status in Italy, by facilitating access to necessary information about residency requirements and by providing direct support to those completing paperwork, according to a British Embassy press release. Help will also be made available to individuals with specific issues, especially those with chronic disease, disability, and those with language or technical barriers.

GENOA – A new 1067 meters bridge made of 17,500 tonnes of steel has been completed in Genoa under two years after the collapse of the Morandi bridge which left 43 people dead, and its opening was greeted by the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who spoke at the televised reopening on Monday. "We solemnly said it a few hours after the tragedy: I ​​was here and we immediately said that Genoa would not be left alone. We do our utmost to ensure that tragedies like this never happen again," the premier said.

Within the city walls, the monuments of the city can be recognized, such as the Duomo, Giotto's bell tower, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti, and the basilica of Santa Maria Novella.

VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis has written a letter which pays homage to over 100 street newspapers around the world that give work and income to more than 20,500 homeless people, and expressed his solidarity during a time when they have not been able to sell because of the pandemic, reports a Holy Sea press statement. Francis pointed to Scarp de ’tenis in Italy, a Caritas project that gives more than 130 people an income and access to citizenship rights.

NAPLES – A policeman, 37, was killed behind the wheel of the car after his vehicle was rammed by bank robbers trying to make good their escape in the early hours of Monday morning, according to official police sources. Police agents were called out after a 4:00 a.m. report of a robbery at the Credito Agricolo branch on via Abate Minichini, Naples, and after the fleeing in their Audi A4, the suspects took a wrong direction, and were confronted by a police car trying to block them, report Il Fatto Quotidiano.

He went on to become effectively an informal ambassador to the West in Belgrade using his formidable knowledge of the seductive city and his beloved Serbia to facilitate business, cultural and diplomatic contacts with Rome and the EU.

SASSARI – Pasquale Zagaria, 60, brother of Don Michele, one of the heads of the Casalesi clan in the Camorra, has been released from prison due to the coronavirus and was placed under house arrest, granted by the Sardinian Court magistrate in the note signed on Thursday. In prison since 2007 on serious charges of extortion and criminal association and with an original release date set for 2025, Zagaria will instead serve time at his wife's house in Pontevico, in the province of Brescia in northern Italy, at least until Sept. 22, reports Il Fatto Quotidiano.
