MANTUA – A helicopter has crashed in an industrial area of Pegognaga killing the pilot, according to initial reports.

 The pilot has been named as 38-year old Alessandro Foglio Bonacina, a financial manager at Cellular Italia who rented the helicopter that morning to complete aerial surveys. He was killed on impact, around 11:30 Friday morning.

 The cause of the accident is not yet established, but there may have been a fault which caused the propeller to be blocked, reported Il Fatto Quotidiano.

ROME – The World Food Programme (WFP) has halted distribution worldwide of a fortified blended food from one of its suppliers to test whether it is related to outbreaks of illness in East Africa.

 According to medical centres and hospital records, 3 people died and 293 were admitted to health centres in the Karamoja region of Northeast Uganda in March and April after eating Super Cereal. The product is used by WFP and partners to prevent malnutrition, especially among women and children.

ROME - The United Nations Refugee Agency has unveiled Rothko in Lampedusa, a new cultural project that aims to promote the artistic talent of refugees and shed light on the current migration crisis, which will open in Venice this month.

 Set to run from May 11 to November 24, Rothko in Lampedusa will exhibit the works of eight established artists, amongst which Ai Weiwei, for whom migration and displacement are either a personal experience or an artistic focus.

  This was not enough for Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, however, who will call for the immediate resignation of the Lega senator at the next Cabinet meeting.

ROME – Matteo Salvini has chosen a Altaforte, a publishing house with close links to CasaPound, to publish his new book, according to the Altaforte website. 

 The publishing house is led by Franceso Polacchi, who was behind CasaPound’s monthly Il Primato Nazionale. Salvini’s book, Io Sono Matteo Salvini, intervista allo specchio, was written by journalist Chiara Giannini with a preface by Maurizio Belpietro.
