ROME – The ClimAlt Project is the latest commendable attempt to teach young people about climate change and the concomitant challenges it poses, and to increase discussion about what can be done.

 Part-funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme, it aims to train individuals aged 20 to 30, free of charge, on the causes, impacts and potential solutions of changes to the environment.

BRUSSELS - A European coalition between Italy’s League and England’s Brexit Party is very much on the cards after delegates from Salvini’s party said that discussions with their British counterparts had gone well.

 Marco Zanni, a League MEP, told press on Wednesday that his party was close to reaching an agreement with the Eurosceptic party led by the man commonly seen as having championed Brexit.

 “We will see if we can wrap things up with [Farage] next week,” Zanni said, before adding that discussions had gone “very well.”

VATICAN CITY - Pope Francis has labelled Donald Trump’s administration as “cruel” in a speech denouncing the US President’s border policy that has led to countless violent incidents and seen authorities separate young children from their families.

 The pontiff said that he was prepared to meet with Trump to discuss the latter’s stance on immigration and urge him not to continue along his chosen path.

ROME - The former President of the National Magistrates Association (ANM) Luca Palamara is under investigation for alleged corruption, judicial sources have said.

 The investigation, as brought to light by La Repubblica and Corriere della Sera, centres on purported benefits bestowed on Palamara by Fabrizio Centofanti, a former aide close to business mogul Francesco Bellavista Caltagirone himself arrested for corruption in 2018, and favourable relations Palamara may have with former Democratic Party undersecretary Cosimo Ferri.

PALERMO - Lebanon’s Ambassador to Italy Mira Daher was amongst those present at the inauguration of the Mosaic of Peace, a new art project symbolising a global collaboration to tackle the migrant crisis and to help re-draft the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 Palermo is amongst the circa 1,000 cities worldwide to subscribe to the vision and ideals of the Mosaic of Peace. Organisers behind the initiative aim to identify alternative strategies to address the core issues behind migratory behaviour, and not simply tackle the result of the phenomenon.
