ROME – As many as 1,252,148 applications for the ‘citizenship wage’ basic income (reddito di cittadinanza) were presented at the Istituto Nazionale della Previdenza Sociale (INPS) up to May 30.  

 Over 960,000 have already been processed out of a total of one 1,6 million submitted in March and April, of which 674,000 were accepted, 277,000 (26 percent) rejected and are still 9,000 in evidence for further preliminary investigation, il Fatto Quotidiano wrote.

 The average amount granted per household is 540 euros. The average amount of citizenship pensions paid up to now, amounting to 81,000, stands at 210 euros per month.

 Applications are processed within the 15th day of the month following the one of the presentation and, starting from that date, INPS sends the payment instructions to Poste, which recharges the pension card. The INPS specifies, still according to il Fatto Quotidiano, that all applications submitted in March are indicated with 03-2019, even if transmitted to the INPS in the following months due to transmission problems.
