TURIN - The leader of the 5 Star Movement, Luigi Di Maio, believes that Italy’s upcoming general election has already been won by his populist party. The young politician spoke at a meeting in Ivrea, Turin, Sunday and emphasised the novelty of 5 Star’s policies in comparison to those of his competition. 

ROME - The convicted murderer 55 year-old mafioso Stefano Ganci has died in a hospital in Palma of a heart attack, according to police sources. Police chief Renato Cortese has ordered that his body be denied a public funeral, and following an autopsy, be returned to Palermo.

ROME - The Council of Transportation has issued a warning that Atac bus services in Rome are at risk as internal conflicts may lead to “corporate bankruptcy or special administration.”

While multiple transport strikes have taken place in Rome in the past months, whether or not Atac reaches an agreement with its employees is reaching breaking point.

“As early as January 27th there would be a risk of blocking the service," warns the statement. For those in Rome, be mindful of possible delays and cancellations.

ROME - The NGOs Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and SOS Mediterranee have appealed for more rescue vessels on the Mediterranean, saying “fewer rescue boats means more deaths to mourn.” The call came following the deaths of at least 8 migrants in the first shipwreck of 2018.
