 ROME -- The new Chelsea manager has been announced, with Antonio Conte, formerly a member of Juventus and current manager of the Italian national side, taking over the role of head coach of the football club from July, having signed a three-year contract.  “Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Conte as First Team Head Coach,” read the official announcement that was posted on the London-based team’s site.

ROME – FAO Director General José Graziano da Silva may offer former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva a bolthole as a “special advisor” to the UN agency to give Lula immunity from prosecution in Brazil’s mushrooming corruption scandal, FAO sources say.

A supreme court judge in Brazil last month blocked the former Lula da Silva’s appointment to the Brazilian cabinet, paving the way for him to face corruption charges in court.

 VATICAN CITY -- The Vatican have confirmed that they are launching an investigation into the alleged use of funds from the children’s hospital Bambino Gesù to finance the reconstruction of a luxurious flat for the former Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone.  The two under investigation are Giuseppe Profiti and Massimo Spina, the two former managers of the children’s hospital, confirms the vice director of the Vatican press office Greg Burke.  “The cardinal is not being investigated,” confirms the spokesperson.
