CAPRI - Top scientists from Britain and Italy warned last week that a hard Brexit could jeopardise productive scientific cooperation between the two countries.

      Gathered for a bilateral conference in Capri, the researchers and administrators appealed to European leaders not to allow Brexit animosity to interfere with cross-border scientific partnerships that underpin the economies of modern industrial societies.

ROME - There will potentially be a 24 hour transport strike in Rome and surrounding areas on Friday, Oct. 13.

The strike will affect bus, metro, and tram services as well as railways between Rome and Viterbo, Lido, and Centocelle. Guarenteed service bands apply, therefore, regular service will continue before 8:30 and between the hours of 17:00 and 20:00.

ROME - Following, what has been deemed, one of Italy’s most embarrassing results ever, tying with Macedonia 1-1 on Friday, Italy has beaten Albania in the match on Sunday.

 Antonio Candreva scored the singular goal of the match in the second half. While Italy was victorious and has secured their place in the qualifying play-off, the team is still very clearly underperforming.

ROME– The Italian Justice Minister, Andrea Orlando expressed disapproval of reparatory measures being able to expunge crimes. Orlando has stated that they will back an amendment in the law that will make in-court cash settlement illegal following the 1,500 euro compensation that was offered by a stalker and refused by the victim that led to the criminal proceedings being dismissed.

ROME - The brother of Ahmed Hanachi, the killer of two women in Marseilles Saint Charles Station in Marseilles, has been arrested in Ferrara on Oct. 7. Anis Hannachi, 25, was accused being complicit with the crimes of his brother. An anti terrorist unit, working in conjunction with the French Authorities, captured Anis Hanachi in the investigation following the issuing of a European arrest warrant. A press conference will be held at 10:30 on Oct. 10.

TUNIS - A boat carrying 70 migrants collided with a Tunisian ship off the North African coast Monday, throwing the human cargo into the sea, maritime sources said.  As many as 30 people have drowned from the migrant ship, according to La Stampa. The boat is believed to have left the Tunisian port of Sfax on its way to Sicily.

RIO DE JANEIRO - The former Italian leftist-terrorist Cesare Battisti celebrated in an airport bar last weekend as he was provisionally released by the Brazilian authorities. Battisti has been convicted of four murders in Italy in the 1970s, but escaped from prison while awaiting trial and eventually found asylum in Brazil.
