ROME - Interior Minister, Marco Miniti, vows to stop Mafia tensions in Ostia escalating into a full blown war in a statement made Monday, “what is happening in Ostia is not tolerable in a democracy.”

 Recent episodes have led authorities to believe that a rival gang is moving into Spada territory. Two masked men “kneecapped” the owner and another worker at a Ostia Pizzeria Thursday. Accounts from the scene tell of how two men came into the Pizzeria and beat the workers on the legs before escaping into the night on a scooter.

ROME - Italian director, Corrado Franco, wrote an open letter to President Donald Trump after seeing the homeless situation in America while in Los Angeles during the lead up to the Oscars. Franco directed the documentary film AL DI QUA, “Life here,” centered around the homeless of Turin that has been submitted for an academy award.

 Representatives and Ministers of Justice from 30 countries will come together to discuss ways to abolish the ultimate penalty from all over the world. Topics of particular concern will be the rise of extrajudicial executions, forms of punishment such as lynching, and the circulation of weapons.

GARABULLI - In the latest maritime tragedy in the Mediterranean, bodies of at least 30 people have been found off the coast of Libya. Migrants were thrown into the water in two shipwrecks, 20 miles from the beaches of Al Hamza and Bulali, according to the Libyan navy.

ROME - The Mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, has taken a tough line on those who illegally reside in council homes in Rome. “Affluent occupants” have been residing in homes that “must go to those who really need it,” according to the Mayor, a year and a half into her term in office. According to a census published by the municipality of Rome, 2,000 tenants have been residing in 23,000 houses allocated for the less well-off.
