NAPLES – The miracle of San Gennaro has been overshadowed by health fears for the Archbishop of Naples, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, religious sources said on Thursday.

 During the ceremony, the miracle of blood liquefaction was proclaimed at 10.05am, prompting applause from the faithful gathered inside the crowded cathedral.

ROME – Fomer economic development minister Carlo Calenda calls on former cabinet collegue to take leadership of the democratic party, a press conference heard on Wednesday. 

“I would like Roberta Pinotti (former defense minister) as the future leader of the democratic party (PD),” said Carlo Calenda at the Foreign Press Association in Rome. Calenda and Pinotti have workerd together as ministers in both the Renzi and Gentiloni government.

ROME – The 11th edition of the “Festival della Letteratura di Viaggio” promoted by the Italian geography society will take place in Rome divided in four segments, a press release said.

 The festival, put together by journalist and photographer Antonio Politano, will focus on recounting the world, through the use of literature, journalism, cinematography and music. Themes touched include migration routes, explorations and islands.

ROME – Links between Street Art and urban regeneration will see the Roman street writer BOL paint murals at the Primavera Shopping Centre in Roman suburb Centocelle, a press statement said.

 This project aims to unite the underground culture of the Centocelle district with a style inspired by typical traits of street artists - a direct and endearing visual language.

 Roman street artist Pietro Maiozzi, known under the pseudonym BOL, alongside his team will work on vintage style murals, depicting traditional Italian street games such as “la campana” and “la dama”.

ROME – A Roman rapper has entered the cockpit of a “metro B” train in Rome and streamed it live from his Instagram page, official sources said on Wednesday. 

 The rapper known as Gast, right-hand man of notorious rapper Noyz Narcos, streamed his hijack via his phone to over 20 thousand followers, highlighting the loose security measures of Roman public transport.

 Gust is seen miming the theft of a concealed gun of a security official patrolling the platform. He then bursts into an open and unattended cockpit opposite to the train’s direction of travel.

ORAN – A Muslim will be represented alongside 19 Christian martyrs at the Notre-Dame sanctuary of Santa Cruz in Oran (Algeria), a monk told catholic radio station InBlu on Tuesday.

 Nineteen Christian martyrs killed in Algeria between 1994 and 1996 will be blessed on Dec.8 in the port city of Oran.

ROME – The annual cricket showdown between Commonwealth embassies based in the Eternal City has returned, courtesy of the Commonwealth Club of Rome and the Italian Cricket Federation.

 The tournament originated in the 1960s and 70s, and was originally known as the ‘Rome Ashes’, with teams from the British and Australian embassies taking on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the FAO and a few international colleges in Rome.
