ROME - Autostrade has presented their plan on how to demolish the bridge in 30 days which will include the loss of 150 flats and they are also further compensating those effected, according to an official statement by the Benetton-owned company.

ROME - A part of the outer wall of the Roman Forum has collapsed, no one has been reported as injured so far, report local firefighters.

 Right before the eyes of disbelieving tourists, part of the Roman Forum crumbled just before 3pm. The outer wall which backs onto Via Monte Tarpeo was the site of the incident, and the stones which dislodged landed right next to the police hut on the street.

ROME - Lucrezia Odescalchi, a 61-year-old princess descending from the Italian Como family, was arrested after allegedly attempting to shoplift a duvet and a suitcase before she preceded to attack the salesman in charge with a hairbrush, police said Thursday.

 The princess, belonging to a family from whom a pope, three cardinals and two bishops have been elected, was arrested and charged with theft.

ROME - A church roof in the centre of the Eternal City collapsed  Thursday, terrifying tourists but causing no injuries, police said.

 Just before 3 p.m. on Thursday the roof of the San Giuseppe dei Falegnami, a church situated at the foot of the Campidoglio, came falling in.

VENICE - The legendary Oscar-winning actress and life-long activist of social and political rights Vanessa Redgrave transformed her prize acceptance speech into an opportunity to make a plea on behalf of refugees.

 At the Venice International Film Festival, Redgrave received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. In her acceptance of the award, she spoke about the “ignorance” of the leaders not facing up to the refugee crisis.

GENOA - Renzo Piano, the Italian architect who designed the Shard, has offered to build the Morandi bridge replacement for free, confirms the local municipality. 

 A local himself, Renzo Piano has volunteered to offer his services for the new Morandi bridge project. The governor of Genoa Giovanni Toti said that they have “gladly accepted the offer and he has already proposed his ideas and plans to us.”
