 ROME - The U.N. may be getting ready to target Parmesan in the battle against salty and fatty foods while outraged Italian politicians and producers are ready to “fight our corner,” according to Italian newspapers.

 Special labels could soon appear on foods such as Parma ham and Parmigiano Reggiano (as well as pizza, wine and extra virgin olive oil) to curb the consumption of salt and fat. This is one of the WHO and UN’s recent campaign proposals in the public health battle against diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

 ROME - After being roughed up by New York United Nations Security while covering the U.N. Budget Committee meeting on July 3, the Inner City Press editor and investigative journalist, Matthew Lee, has been banned from attending UN press conferences, Mr. Lee told the Italian Insider.

 Mr Lee covers the 6-billion-dollar U.N. peacekeeping budget along with the coverage of other U.N. corruption investigations, such as a recent one into the U.N.’s indifference towards ethnic violence in Cameroon.

ROME - The reform for self-defence presented by the League leader on Thursday will legitimise “self-defence of the property owner in the case of forced entry or violence against said owner,” government officials announce.

 Tomorrow there will be an examination of the bill for the reform of self-defence at the Senate Justice Committee: one of the promised election priorities set out by the leader of the League party, Matteo Salvini.

ROME – Carabinieri have been sieving the canals in the lush Maccarese area near Rome after a local reportedly spotted a crocodile swimming there, local authorities said on Wednesday.

 The thought of a reptile in the Maccarese area certainly defies belief, but in this seaside area near the Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome the hunt is on, under the advice of Fiumcino council on which Maccarese depends.
