  ROME -- A group of Italian citizens, Greenpeace Italy and ReCommon have appealed to the Italian Supreme Court, seeking a pivotal ruling in their climate litigation against the fossil fuel company ENI, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), which is pending in the Court of Rome. 

  The appeal aims for the Supreme Court to declare that the Italian judiciary can and should decide on such a case.

 ROME – Italy suffered a setback in their Euros campaign after losing 1-0 Spain at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen. Spain were the stronger team throughout, starting the match as they meant to go on with a dominating opening performance. Within two minutes, Nico Williams crossed the ball into the box and found Pedri, however Pedri’s header was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

  VATICAN CITY -- Monsignor Carlo Maria Viganò, a conservative priest, has been summoned to the Vatican after being accused by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith of inciting schism within the Roman Catholic Church, the Holy See has said.

  Viganò, the former Apolistic Nuncio in the USA between 2011 and 2016, has criticised Pope Francis on multiple occasions and called for his resignation.

  ROME -- Satnam Singh, a  31 year old labourer, died at the San Camillo di Roma hospital on Wednesday morning after being denied medical attention by his employer after his arm was severed by machinery in Latina in Lazio, the Carabinieri have said.

  ROME -- The trial investigating the kidnapping, torture, and murder of University of Cambridge student, Giulio Regeni, currently underway in Italy, is facing further pushback from Egypt, with a new attempt from Cairo to slow down and stop it. 

  The four Egyptian 007 agents accused of the kidnapping are Usham Helmi, General Sabir Tariq, Colonels Athar Kamel Mohamed Ibrahim, and Magdi Ibrahim Abdelal Sharif. It is only Sharif, however, who is accused of conspiracy to commit aggravated bodily harm and conspiracy to commit murder.

  REGGIO CALABRIA -- Search operations for the 66 missing migrants lost 120 miles off the Calabrian coast in the worst shipwreck since the Cutro disaster were continuing for a third day Thursday, the Italian Coast Guard said. 

  The search is being carried out by the Nave Dattilo, an offshore patrol vessel, as well as the Coast Guard aircraft ATR-42 Manta, coordinated by the Secondary Centre of Maritime Rescue in Reggio Calabria. There have been 6 bodies found so far.
