ROME – The FAO evaluation division director has alarmed observers by appointing a friend in Washington as a liason and evaluation officer at sky-high paid P-5 grade on the agency’s gravy train who evidently has zero experience in the United Nations or the department at large, FAO sources say.

ROME -  The conference about Maritime security and the role of the Euro-Gulf Information Centre (EGIC) was held in Rome at the Egic  headquarters in Rome on wednesday evening. The event was initiated by the president of EGIC  The Euro-Gulf region is a pivotal intersection for global maritime trade and energy supplies, with strategic points. Maritime security in this region is vital, as threats such as piracy, terrorism, geopolitical tensions, and disputes over territorial waters pose risks to international shipping and energy markets.

Rome - The Italian Astronaut and Air Force Colonel, Walter Villadei, returned from the Axion 3 mission at the International Space Station with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta’s Flag which he handed over at the sovereign state's headquarters in the Eternal City in a solemn ceremony.

 For this extraordinary event the doors which are usually closed were open to the media on Monday at the Villa Magistrate Headquarters of the Order of Malta on the Aventine Hill. The Axiom Mission 3 involved a private space flight to the international space station on Jan.18 this year.

 ROME – Beleaguered WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain and her 'chopper pilot' chief of staff sought to boost her popularity with a charm offensive at a big all staff meeting of the UN agency to climax the end of the summer vacation period, yet the backslapping and smiles were judged “cringeworthy” by many veteran observers.

 Ms McCann also ruffled the feathers of animal lovers among the staff when she was quoted as saying “some days you just want to kick a dog.”
