 ROME - As political rhetoric heated up ahead of the Dec. 4 referendum, critics accused Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of stealing the political ideas of the notorious P2 masonic lodge for his constitutional reforms.

 The argument was laid out in detail by Aldo Giannuli, a historian based in Milan who is one of Italy’s leading experts on the political shenanigans of the cold war period.

 ROME -- Peru’s parliament unanimously voted to ask the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to annul their controversial hiring of Peruvian former first lady Nadine Heredia as head of its liaison office in Geneva, and subsequently threatened to withdraw their country’s ambassador to the UN agency, government sources said Friday.

 The Peruvian parliament counted 118 votes in favour of asking the FAO to retract their decision, and received zero votes against it, after the ex-first lady left Peru Tuesday for Europe -- despite having been previously banned from leaving.

ROME – As Peru formally protested to the FAO Thursday over the U.N. agency providing a safe haven for fugitive Peruvian former first lady Nadine Heredia in Geneva, FAO watchers asked how wily operator José Graziano da Silva managed to create a diplomatic clusterfuck.

 “Why such a big mistake?” a veteran FAO observer asked, “You would expect that an experienced chess player wouldn´t make an amateur bet.”

 “Was he protecting Brazilian former President Lula and his cronies who contributed to the alleged financial wrongdoing by Nadine?” the seasoned observer asked.
