 ROME - A prayer vigil for peace organized by the Sant'Egidio movement was being held Friday evening at the basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere to commemorate the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

 The Russia-Ukraine war continues to claim and to cause "new victims and new destruction," a Sant'Egidio spokesperson wrote in a press release. 

 Sant'Egidio, a Rome-based Catholic association which promotes prayer, charity, and peace, was streaming the vigil live from 20:00 on its website and all the organization's social media channels.

 ROME -- A café in Venafro, Molise, has launched an initiative where customers can buy a coffee for 50 cents, as long as they bring their own cup.

 The owners of the shop, Ida Di Ciacco and Moreno Spada, said the scheme was to help the environment and to also help people cut down on costs.

 The “green coffee” initiative means the café avoids “long, polluting high-temperature dishwasher cycles” and customers are provided with a cheaper, more sustainable way to enjoy their coffee.

 ROME — Investigators were wrong in assuming that the 17-year-old daughter of the Sicilian bricklayer who killed his wife and sons last week was a chance survivor of her father’s rampage. The girl told prosecutors in exacting detail about her role in torturing and killing her mother and brothers during a weekslong exorcism masterminded by a Palermo couple one of the victims referred to as the "Brothers of God."

 “I would do it all again,” the daughter said. “They had the devil in them.”

 ROME – Johnny Depp visited the National Cinema Museum in Turin, welcomed by the museum’s top management.

 He explored the World of Tim Burton exhibition, which included many displays from Depp and Burton’s collaborations.

 From early sketches of Edward Scissorhands to Sweeney Todd, the museum has a wide range of materials that delve into the creative mind of Burton.

 Depp also saw the handwritten letter he received from Burton which suggested changes to lines in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

 ROME – Napoli faced Barcelona at the Stadio Maradona on Wednesday night in the first leg of the Champion League’s Round of 16.

 Both teams won their respective leagues last season but recently have failed to inspire with Napoli in ninth place and Barcelona in third. In what promised to be a big clash, the behind-the-scenes of the teams left many fans wondering if either club would be up to the challenge or be able to retain any of last year’s glory.

 ROME – A sinkhole in Naples swallowed two cars, a tree and two people in the early hours of Wednesday morning, police sources said.

 The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Wednesday in the Vomero neighbourhood of the city. One of the cars was parked, however one of the cars was moving. Inside the car were driver Giulio delle Donne and Luca Casolla, who were returning from a party, celebrating the results of a university exam.
