ROME – Italy came from behind to progress to the knockout rounds of the Euros after holding Croatia to a 1-1 draw in Leipzig.
The Azzurri headed into the match on three points and in second place, however needed a draw or a win to ensure Croatia did not move above them in the table. Italy had previously never beaten Croatia, with the two teams drawing every match since 2006.
Italy started the game off in a new formation, 3-5-2 instead of their usual 4-2-3-1, leaving Federico Chiesa on the bench.
