ROME - Monday Nov. 19 marks 1000 days of war in Ukraine, and accordingly the Catholic community organisation Sant'Egidio is emphasising the continued need for support in its humanitarian mission in the country. 

 As Ukraine descends into winter, conditions are expected to dramatically worsen both on the front line and at home, with average daily temperatures below freezing. 

 ROME - In the last match week of the group stage of the Nations League Italy lost 3-1 to France. The loss means that Italy and France both end up with 13 points, but France pip Italy to first place with a goal difference higher by only one goal.

 Things did not get off to a good start for the Azzurri men. In the second minute of the match Frenchman Adrien Rabiot placed his header from a corner into the top right hand corner Italian goal, putting France ahead with the game barely having started.

 ROME - Amar Kudin, a 32-year-old police officer, has died following the collision of two police cars early on Monday morning, police said. Around 5 a.m., the two vehicles crashed at an intersection in the Torrevecchia neighbourhood in Rome's outskirts. Kudin was pronounced dead on the scene, whilst all other people involved have been hospitalised for serious injuries. 

The community of Sant’ Egidio has organized a celebration for the 8 annual World Day of the Poor on November 17. Pope Francis created the holiday in 2017, for the church to have a specific day to focus on helping those in need. In Rome, Sant’ Egidio will host a lunch in the Paul IV Hall with groups of homeless people, people with disabilities, and refugees.

The Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, on Via della Paglia 14b, has also arranged lunch, beginning at 12:00. It is sponsored by the Rome Police Headquarters and will host around one hundred homeless and poor families.
