 VATICAN CITY - Due to a fall Thursday morning in his apartment at the Casa Santa Marta guest house in his tiny city state, Pope Francis suffered a bruise on his right forearm, without any fractures, according to the Vatican press office.

 The 88-year-old Argentinian pontiff's arm has been placed in a sling as a precautionary measure, the Vatican said.

 Despite this he has managed to continue his public appearances Thursday morning and carry out his meetings with visiting dignitaries.

ROME – Latin will return as an option for children in high schools across Italy, along with increased hours allocated to Italian history, as well as study of the Bible. 

 Geo-history will be scrapped in favour of more geography lessons and there shall be a greater emphasis placed on Italian literature, with the teaching of nursery rhymes and poems from infant school and from elementary schools, through the study of music.

 ROME - Following the release of Cecilia Sala due to succesful government intervention, the family of Alberto Trentini, an Italian aid-worker who was arrested on unknown charges in Venezuela, have appealed to the Italian government to intervene on his behalf. He has not been heard from since Nov.15. In a statement from his lawyer, Alessandra Ballerini, they were pleading the government to use all possible diplomatic channels to open a constructive dialogue with the Venezuelan police to repatriate Alberto and guarantee his safety.

 ROME — Vogue Italia celebrated its 60th anniversary with flair, glamour, and a series of events. Former Vogue Italia creative director Ferdinando Verderi headed a public exhibit titled ‘Sixty Years of Future’ at Milan’s Palazzo Citterio. Open 19-20 September, the exhibit showcased 60 covers from Vogue Italia’s archive that chronicle the magazine’s impact on fashion, culture, and society, its role solidifying Milan’s status as a fashion capital.

 ROME — Italian and Iranian intelligence services had resolved all "misunderstanding" in the case of Mohammad Abedini Najafabadi, the Italian-Swiss engineer freed Sunday after nearly a month of detention in Milan, Iran's foreign ministry said. 

 Milan police arrested Abedini at Malpensa Airport Dec. 16, after a United States federal court issued an international arrest warrant for the 38-year-old engineer.

 ROME – Oliviero Toscani, the photographer behind the infamous Benetton campaigns in the 80s and 90s featuring the clothes of a dead Bosnian soldier and real human hearts, has died aged 82. 

 His wife and children released a brief statement to the press expressing their immense grief that Sig. Toscani had passed on the Jan. 13 and asked for space in this difficult time. 

 Sig. Toscani was known for his work with Chanel, Fiorucci, Prenatal and Benetton.

 ROME- Pickpocketed on the number 64 bus to Termini (Rome), a tale as old as time. Long since before the Artful Dodger made his debut in Dickens, pickpocketing gangs have been a scourge on major cities and public transport. We accept it as a fact of life but it can wreak absolute havoc, especially when abroad.
