ROME-The Lombardy Regional Councial has proposed a ban of the burqa and niqab along with an urban Daspo to those who wear them in public.
The Northern League of Venice proposed the ban of the Muslim face covering and believe that the Daspo should be extended to men if they are forcing woman to wear the veil. The leader of the group, Alex Bazzaro, stated that “the niqab is a violation of women's rights. I don't know of any other religious denominations that require hiding one's face.
ROME – Ten years after the death of Domenico Martimucci, the 27-year-old footballer, who was mortally wounded in after a bomb went off in a game room in Altamura, Puglia on March 5 2015, two men have been arrested.
After nearly five months in a coma, the young footballer succumbed to his injuries and passed away, his homicide has been under investigation ever since. Due to suspected mafia involvement, there have already been multiple trials and on Thursday a further two were arrested.
ROME - A bus and a car collided between Boara and Corlo, hamlets of Ferrara, killing the 36-year-old man driving the car and injuring seven people who were aboard the bus, which was full of students returning from school.
After the impact the bus collapsed on its side and ended up in a ditch, with some passengers suffering bruises and other injuries. They were then transported to the Sant'Anna hospital in Cona for assessment and treatment of their injuries

ROME - It emerged from police sources on Monday that the father of baby Giulia, a nine-month-old little girl, who was attacked while sleeping in her parents’ bed by the family pitbull on Saturday night, was investigated for manslaughter.
After an autopsy ordered on the girl's body, the Prosecutor of Nola decided that the father should be amongst the current suspects facing charges for his failure to supervise the animal.
He was under investigation, while the police were continuing to investigate his version of events. He has not been formally charged.

VATICAN CITY – Following Pope Francis’ public struggle with bronchitis in recent weeks, the Vatican announced on Monday that the pontiff in the past few days has contracted a pulmonary infection in his airways that will require another form of treatment.
All of the tests indicate that Francis will require a longer period of hospitalisation at Gemelli Polyclinic, where he was admitted on Friday for treatment, and thus his regular audience on Wednesday has been cancelled, the Vatican said.
ROME - Around 600 students from outside of Siena, who meet the criteria for housing placements have still not been allocated rooms in the University of Siena residences, according to Fatto Quotidiano.
The lack of available rentals has forced many to search for temporary solutions or waiting for months.

"Brothers and sisters, happy Sunday!," the pontiff said in his Angelus message distributed by the Vatican but not pronounced publicly by the ailing pope who was admitted to the Gemelli Polyclinic hospital Friday where he is expected to remain for several days of rest and tests.
