 ROME -- When I agreed to visit the Spirit of Scotland: Rome Whisky Festival I assumed I would find a group of tweed wearing, bagpipe playing, lost-looking Scots, left over from the Six Nations match against Italy.  Instead, I arrived to an austere looking building named Salone delle Fontane in the EUR area where, despite Italian organisational skills leading to some initial confusion on arrival, I bought some tokens and headed on in.

Italian golf is currently undergoing its worst slump in a decade and with the Olympics around the corner, prospecting for gold appears increasingly unlikely.

 ROME -- Finnish Valmet will supply an OptiConcept M containerboard production line and a mill-wide Valmet DNA automation system to Pro-Gest S.p.a. for the company's new Mantova site in Italy. The new production line is planned to produce high-quality lightweight recycled case material.

 The order is included in Valmet's first quarter 2016 orders received. The value of an order of this type is EUR 75 million.

LECCE -- Apulia is preparing itself for a migrant emergency, by putting in place “precautionary steps” according to the city prefect for Lecce. Investigators have said that “there aren’t any indications for the imminent arrival of refugees.” Nevertheless Salento is preparing itself. The Finance Police branch has chosen to redirect funds to the coastguard that were previously resources destined for environmental protection.

 ROME -- The other two Italian hostages being held in Libya have been released and confirm that “we are well, but psychologically devastated,” Italian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Friday morning.  Gino Pollicardo and Filippo Calcagno were kidnapped on July 19, along with the two other Bonatti employees, Salvatore Failla and Fausto Piano, who were killed during a raid on a militant hideout by Libyan security forces on Wednesday.

ROME -- Fausto Plan and Salvatore Failla, two Italians kidnapped by Islamic State in Libya last year and used as human shields, have been killed, the Italian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.  They explained that Plan and Failla were two of  four Italian employees of construction company ‘Bonatti’ who were kidnapped in July 2015.
