 ROME – The nephew of mafia boss Antonio Capriati was shot and killed in Torre a Mare, Bari, police said.

 Rafaelle “Lello” Capriati, 39, was shot four times on Monday night in Bari. Three shot were to his head and one to his shoulder.

 Investigators believe that only revolver was used, and the killer was most likely on a motorbike.

Things figured to be more predictable at the Miami Open, the second leg of the Sunshine Double. But the scenario turned truly surreal. With no excuse of injury, Djokovic withdrew from the tournament and fired his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, who had led him to multiple Grand Slam titles in the past six years.

 The pontiff, who pulled out of attending the Way of the Cross on Friday at the last minute to “save energy” for services on Saturday and Sunday, spoke to 60,000 people on Sunday morning.

 ROME – A 51-year-old architect living in Limbiate, Monza, was arrested on suspicion of aiding mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro by allegedly allowing the boss to use his identity, police said.

 Massimo Gentile, originally from Campobello di Mazara in Sicily, was one of three suspects arrested by the Carabinieri Special Task Force early on Wednesday morning, accused of helping mafia boss Messina Denaro.

 ROME – A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck Friuli Venezia Giulia late on Wednesday night, the INGV seismic surveillance centre said.

 The epicentre was five kilometres south west of Socchieve, Udine, with an estimated depth of 12 kilometres. According to data from the INGV, the strongest tremors were felt in nearby villages of Ampezzo and Ovaro.
