  ROME -- Archbishop Luigi Renna has cancelled the mass in memory of Italian dictator, Benito Mussolini. The celebration was supposed to take place in the church of Santa Caterina in Catania, a port city on Sicily’s east coast. 

  Renna took the decision to close the church on Sunday afternoon after having learnt of the ceremony through an obituary published online for the 79th anniversary of the death of Benito Mussolini and his mistress Claretta Petacci. The church will remain closed until the end of today.

  ROME -- Couples can now exchange vows amidst the beauty of San Vero Milis’ shell beach in a clothing-optional ceremony. The decision comes following Mayor Luigi Tedeschi’s recent endeavours to make the naturist beach of Is Benas the setting for official civil ceremonies.

  ROME -- Some 800 demonstrators have taken to the streets of Venice on Thursday to protest the city’s new entry ticket. On Italy’s Liberation Day, the citizens of Venice fought for their freedom once again against measures introducing a daily access ticket which would control the flow of people entering the city. Gathering at Ponte della Libertà, demonstrators were equipped with placards, leaflets, and satirical tickets, the word freedom, fittingly, adorned many of their signs.

  ROME -- During the early hours of Wednesday, anarchists took to the streets of Tuscolano to protest the imprisonment of Alfredo Cospito and his wife Anna Beniamo. 

  Three rubbish bins were set ablaze in the centre of the street, accompanied by vandalism targeting bank windows and ATMs. A parked car nearby also sustained damage. The phrase "Anna and Alfredo free" was found at the scene.
