ROME - Italian President Sergio Mattarella recently responded to remarks from Elon Musk, who publicly questioned whether Italy's political environment leans more toward democracy or autocracy. Mattarella responded saying: "Italy is a great democratic country and I must reiterate, in the words used on another occasion, Oct. 7, 2022, that it 'knows how to take care of itself while respecting its Constitution'.
ROME - The Italian Finance Police have said that six public officials are under investigation in alleged fraud surrounding 2025’s Giubileo. Of the six arrested, four are public officials from the Municipality of Rome, two work for Astral, and the other two are traffic officers.

ROME – A 61 year-old man who faked his death has been arrested after requesting a loan from a post office disguised as a priest, Rome’s police reports.
The unnamed man was dressed in a tussock and used a fake ID stolen from a Vatican prelate to request the money. After workers flagged their suspicions, the postal police forces realised that the man had been arrested multiple times before, but had cleared himself of trial by forging a death certificate and sending it into the Public Prosecution office.

ROME - In a tweet on his platform X, Elon Musk has said that Italian judges “need to go.” This refers to the ongoing dispute between the Italian government and the EU and Italian courts, as a Roman court decreed on the release of the last seven migrants detained in Albania.
The migrants have already been transported to Italy on board the Coast Guard’s Visalli ship, and will now be accommodated in the Restinco Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers in Brindisi.
ROME - This week's top-of-the-table clash between Napoli and Inter Milan ended up in a tight 1-1 draw at the San Siro. The draw means that Napoli remain top of the Serie A table with Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Atalanta and Lazio only one point behind.
Napoli took the lead with a corner in the 23rd minute. The ball bounced between players, before a well-positioned flying scotsman, Scott McTominay, poked the ball into the back of the net, putting the Serie A leaders ahead.
