 ROME – The family of Margaret Spada, a 22-year-old who fell fatally ill during cosmetic nose surgery on Nov. 4, and whose surgeons are currently facing accusations of manslaughter, were awaiting the results of an autopsy set to be conducted on Friday, judicial sources said.

 Spada booked her cosmetic surgery at the practice of father and son team Marco and Marco Antonio Procopio after seeing an advertisement on social media. Il Messaggero reports that the young woman found the practice’s account and offers when scrolling through TikTok.

 ROME – American adoptees have written a letter to Pope Francis asking for an official apology for the Vatican’s role in a scheme which sent hundreds of Italian babies born out of wedlock to America from 1950-1970.

 A CBS News documentary made public the stories of many Americans who have discovered recently that their real mothers are alive and across the pond. Organised by Monsignor Andrew Landi, an estimated 3500 babies from 1950-1970 were given to Catholic families in the US on the grounds of being ‘orphans’.

This superb run of form means that Italy stay top of their group, three points ahead of France who sit in second, with Belgium now all but completely out of the running with only four points, with Isreal on one point very much out of it.

 ROME - On Thursday evening the Azzurri face their next challenge in the Nations League against Belgium. The match promises to be an exciting spetacle, with the last encounter between the two rivals resutling in a tense 2-2 draw.

 The Italians are in fine form, yet to lose a match in this year's competition. Whereas Belgium have been struggling slightly, losing two games already, both against France. However, the Belgians' necessity to win in order to stay in the Nations League is likely to spur them on, and make the challenge even tougher for the Italians.

The latest issue commemorates 100 years since the death of Maffeo Pantaleoni, an influential economist but remembered for promoting the antisemitic tract The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The fabricated text detailing a Jewish plot to achieve world domination was first published in Imperial Russia in 1903 and was used to stoke anti-Jewish pogroms in the Russian Empire.
