Man trapped for nine hours in Milan bank vault

ROME --A 24-year old man was trapped for 9 hours on the night of February 19, to the morning of February 20. The vault was located in a Unicredit branch on Viale Certosa, on the corner of Viale Monte Ceneri in Milan.
The fire department was called by the Carabinieri at around 9pm. Firefighters were next to arrive on the scene to help with the rescue of the trapped man in addition to the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR). As efforts continued the 118 emergency services were called at 12:30 am to assist the fire department, they arrived with two ambulances.
The firefighters worked until 5:00 am this morning. In order to free the man they had to force open a safe which contained the keys. The unidentified man is in good health and did not require any medical intervention.
It is still unknown the exact reason the man was inside the vault and if he was an employee of the unicredit or not. Caribinieri are working to reconstruct the incident in full.
