Inter winning streak halted after draw with underperfoming Napoli

Darmian scores for Inter

ROME – Inter Milan’s title charge was slowed down by Napoli after they drew 1-1 at the San Siro, their first domestic match without a win in 12 games.

Although Inter pulled ahead in the first half thanks to a goal from Matteo Darmian, they were held to a draw after Juan Jesus in the 81st minute. Both teams were knocked out of the Europa Champions League last week by Spanish clubs.

AC Milan beat Verona 1-3, thanks to goals from Theo Hernandez, Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze, narrowing the gap to Inter to only 14 points. The gap between AC Milan and Juventus also widened as Juventus drew with Genoa 0-0, allowing Milan to start pulling away in second place.

Elsewhere Roma beat Sassuolo 1-0 thanks to a goal from Lorenzo Pellegrini and the other two teams from the region faced off as Lazio beat Frosinone 3-2.

Atalanta vs Fiorentina was postponed after Fiorentina’s manager was fell ill and was taken to hospital with a suspected stroke.

The placings of the top six teams in European tournament qualifying spots remained unchanged.
