Some schools shut due to outbreak

MILAN - In Milan’s commune of Bollate, three institutes have been shut due three cases of the English variant of the virus. They will remain closed until “screening is concluded”. The kindergarten, Bruno Munari di Bollate, has reported a total of 59 positive cases.
In-person classes were immediately suspended after health experts ascertained that three cases of the Covid variant had been detected. As a precautionary measure, two other plexuses, that are part of the comprehensive institute, will temporarily close from 12 Feb. This includes Marco Polo and Rosmini primary school. Francesco Vassallo, the mayor, has made it known that the pandemic situation “in the city is restricted and it is not considered critical, and any developments in this regard will be communicated through official channels.”
The ATS, which has processed the swabs and identified through genotypic analysis the variant, has ordered the suspension of classes and the activation of the DAD. The Health Authority of the metropolitan city reports that "45 pupils and 14 teachers/workers in the preschool" tested positive. Those who currently have the virus are in isolation and the whole school (pupils and operators) has been placed in quarantine," reads the statement. As a result of the 3 cases of the English variant, there is “a specific surveillance protocol for the outcome of the molecular swab at the end of 14 days of quarantine for all close contacts”.
The ATS Metropolitan City of Milan is in contact with the mayor of Bollate Francesco Vassallo and continues to "monitor the progress of contagions to assess the need to implement additional public health measures".
On Feb. 11, there were 15,146 cases of coronavirus in Italy, with 391 deaths because of the virus. The contagion rate has now risen to 5.1% in Italy, due to the recent relaxation of restrictions to yellow level in numerous regions.
