1300kg of cocaine discovered in containers of coffee

GIOIA TAURO - More than a tonne of cocaine has been discovered in a port in the province of Reggia Calabria in less than a week.
1300kg of the narcotic was discovered by the Guardia di Finanza in Calabria in three separate operations, hidden in containers loaded with coffee, frozen meat and exotic fruit. The shipping containers, two of which had arrived from Brazil and one from Ecuador, were discovered to be hiding the illicit substances with the help of sophisticated scanners operated by the Guardia di Finanza and the anti-fraud officials of the Customs Office.
The operation, coordinated by the Reggio Calabria prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri, and is currently concerned with investigating the shipment of the cargo to the port of Gioia Tauro, as well as its planned onward journey.
The cocaine was of the highest quality, according to the customs official, and if it had reached the hands of the ‘Ndrangheta, would have been worth 260 millions euros.
The Guardia di Finanza have released a video of the discovery.
