FOGGIA, Apulia – Police have arrested alleged members of the Perna mafia clan in a coordinated anti-mafia operation in Vieste, Foggia, police sources said on Monday.

 Police from Foggia, Bari and the Central Operations Service, led by Bari’s anti-mafia taskforce – the Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia (Dda) – joined forces to target the gang headed by well-known mafia kingpin Girolamo Perna.

 The alleged offences range from criminal association linked to trafficking of drugs – cocaine and marijuana – and the possession and handling of firearms.

 The criminal group has been responsible for up to 14 crimes since 2015.
