Injuries and delays follow tram collision

The collision

ROME- Another collision between two trams on Tuesday morning caused delays and some injuries. The accident occurred near Preneste, in central Rome, and slowed down the lines 5, 19, and 14 for more than two hours.

Two passengers were hospitalised and transported to the San Giovanni hospital. The injuries sustained by the two have been deemed ‘’yellow’’ and ‘’green’’ codes by the medical personnel, meaning the life of neither is at risk. Other passengers were assisted on the spot by the paramedics of 118, the Italian emergency service.

ATAC (Tramways Company and Coach of the Municipality of Rome) has opened an inquiry to establish the causes of the accident. In the meantime, ATAC has opened a secondary route which, by the auxiliary support of busses, should relieve the pressure on the Roman tram system.
