Juventus beat Lazio to claim Coppa Italia

ROME-- Juventus overcame Lazio 2-0 in the final of the Coppa Italia at the Stadio Olimpico Wednesday night, to secure the first leg of a potential treble, which also would include the Champions League and the Serie A title.
The Bianconeri secured their record 12th Coppa Italia title after first half goals from Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci sealed the victory against a lacklustre Lazio side.
Juventus dominated much of the first half and deservedly took the lead when the Brazilian full-back Dani Alves volleyed home after some poor Lazio defending.
The reigning Serie A champions soon doubled their lead when Bonucci swept home from a corner, sending the travelling supporters from Turin into raptures as they sensed victory was in sight.
Lazio, playing in their home stadium, rallied after the break and created golden opportunities for Felipe Anderson and Ciro Immobile. However, both were denied by legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who was yet again instrumental in another Juventus clean sheet.
Speaking after the victory, Juventus headcoach Max Alegri told Italian media that this was only the first in a series of objectives for the Bianconeri.
"We have to compliment the lads for a great game, an extraordinary first half and Lazio deserve compliments for their entire campaign," said Alegri.
"Now we have another important game against Crotone to finish off the title."
"The first half had a very high tempo and we made the most of our chances, so we did well defending in the second half," added the Italian.
Juventus remain on track for their sixth successive Scudetto title, despite a recent slip up against Roma.
If the Bianconeri can add Champions League glory by overcoming Real Madrid in the final on June 3, to their inevitable league success then an historic treble could well be on the cards for the Turin outfit.
