ROME—Friday morning’s draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League has revealed that Juventus will face five-time winners of the competition, Barcelona, in a repeat of the 2015 final in Berlin.

The first leg will be played at the Juventus Stadium on either April 11 or 12 with the return fixtures on April 18 or 19.

The home side will be hoping they can maintain their excellent home form when the Catalan heavyweights travel to Turin. Juve are unbeaten in their last 21 home games in European competitions and will be desperate to take an advantage into the away leg at the Camp Nou.

Whilst it is true that there are no easy games at this stage of the competition, the daunting prospect of a trip to the Camp Nou will instill fear into Juventus fans. Not least after the way that the Blaugrana tore through French champions PSG to overcome a four-goal deficit in the last 16.

However, in reaction to the draw, former player and vice-chairman of the club, Pavel Nedved, told the media that his side should have no fear.

“Juve should take a look inside itself, we should respect Barcelona as you must, but not too much because then comes fear, and that doesn’t go well”.

“I believe that our squad is at the level of Barcelona”.

Elsewhere, Leicester City, the reigning English champions who continue to defy all footballing logic, have been drawn against last year’s finalists Atletico Madrid.

The only French team left in the competition, Monaco, will face Borussia Dortmand, whilst Carlo Ancelotti’s Bayern Munich will come up against Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid in perhaps the most salivating tie of the round.

All hopes of an Italian side claiming Champions League glory rest on Juventus after Napoli were knocked out by Real Madrid in the last round.
