Vegan Cornettos win PETA award

The new Algida 'Veggy Cornetto' range

ROME -- Algida has received an award from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for their announcement of a new vegan Cornetto.

The food service company has recently created ‘Veggy,’ the Cornetto produced with soya milk, in order to satisfy demand from the growing vegan market.

With cones of both vanilla and chocolate flavour, both completely free from cow’s milk and dairy products, Algida’s ‘Veggy’ range has been recognised with the ‘Proggy Award’ (an abbreviation of ‘Progress’) from the animal rights charity.

The Director for PETA’s International Programmes, Mimi Bekhechi, said, “Algida, producing a Cornetto for the growing vegan market, is offering a taste of the future,” adding, “Today more than ever, people are avoiding lactose products, knowing that they provide damaging effects on our health and they cause animals to go through hell. Companies that offer vegan options are therefore recognised.”
