Pope calls TV show, wishing all a "Christian Christmas"

Pope Francis spoke live to viewers Thursday morning.

VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis surprised hosts and viewers of RAI 1 television show ‘Uno Mattina’ Thursday morning, calling in live and directly wishing all Italians “a Christian Christmas.”

The pontiff wished all “a Christian Christmas, just like the first.”

The pope then added, “God overthrew the order of the world in the name of ‘smallness’ and making himself ‘small’ amongst men.”

“God chose to be born ‘small,’ because he wanted to be loved. This is how the logic of Christmas is the reversal of current worldly logic – the logic of power, of control (…)” said the head of the Holy See in his address to cardinals and superiors of the Church in the Clementine Hall for the Christmas greetings.
