Italian National Press against "frivolous lawsuits"

 ROME – The Italian National Press Federation (FNSI) shall meet in Piazza delle Cinque Lune at 10:30am Thursday to seek solutions to the phenomenon of freqent “frivolous lawsuits” which pose a true threat to journalists and indeed the freedom of the press in general, especially those journalists who work daily to tackle mafia and corruption.

 The Federation shall gather together the General Secretary and President of the FNSI, Raffaele Lorusso and Giuseppe Giulietti, the Vice-Minister of the Interior, Filippo Bubbico, the President and Vice-President of the Antimafia Parliamentary Commission, Rosy Bindi and Claudio Fava, representatives from regional press associations, the Order of Lazio journalists, Articolo21, Pressing NoBavaglio, Usigrai, the Friends of Roberto Morrione Association, Italians for Danfur, Mensile Confronti, Associazione Carta di Roma, Oxygen for Information, Libera Informazioen and the Vassallo Foundation.

 Alongside such institutions, various journalists now living under police protection because of their work shall also be attending, joined by Michele Albanese, who was awarded with a title of Merit by the President for his commitment in favour of freedom of information.
