Boy critical after metro accident

ROME -- A boy thought to be aged 12, was run over by a train on the metro B line of Italy’s capital, Friday morning.
At about 8am on Friday morning, at the metro station Eur Fermi towards the south of The Eternal City, the 12-year-old was crushed by a passing train.
The boy was promptly rescued from the tracks in a critical condition and transported by the 118 emergency ambulance service, in code red whilst at grave danger of death, to Rome’s ‘Baby Jesus’ hospital.
It seems that the boy is suffering from a thoracic trauma and bad fractures in one hand.
The police are at the scene of the incident and investigations are being carried out as to the exact dynamics of the occurence.
The first evaluations that are being made about the situation is that it was probably an accidental fall caused by the very wet and slippery platform from the morning’s torrential downpour.
Immediately after the accident the metro B line service was suspended between the stations Eur Laurentina and Eur Magliana.
Atac, Rome’s public transport company, has issued a tweet saying that they have put replacement bus services in place until the metro is reopened.
