Rome 2024 bid presentation on June 30

 ROME -- A presentation of the Roma 2024 Olympic Games bid will be being held on June 30 at the Olympic Stadium of Rome, along with the Commonwealth Club of Rome as the upcoming Commonwealth Games will also be presented.

 The event will begin at 6 p.m. with the opening remarks made by Edward Mura, the chairman of the Commonwealth Club of Rome, followed by Diana Bianchedi, the General Coordinator for Roma 2024, who will present her speech on the vision and legacy of the bid.

 Bianchedi holds a degree in sports medicine, and was part of the national female fencing team, during which time she won a total of 16 medals, including two Olympic golds in team foil events, five world titles and two European titles.  The first woman to be part of CONI’s executive as Vice President, she was also President of the Athletes Commissions, and an executive member of the Scientific Antidoping Commission, as well as being current President of the ‘Commissione Benemerenze’.

 From 6.30 p.m. Fiona May, Athletes Relations Manager, will be talking on the Olympic experience of an athlete.  May was born in the UK as an Italian citizen and holds the Italian long jump record, as well as being the Italian female athlete to have spent the most time on the podium.

 For the Commonwealth Games Jo Tarnawsky of the Australian Embassy in Rome will be talking about the upcoming Gold Coast 2018, and there will be a short presentation on Durban 2022.

 Simone Perillo, as International Relations Manager for Rome 2024, will be running the Question and Answer session from 7 p.m., which will be followed by cocktails.
