ROME -- Matteo Salvini, the Secretary General for Italian political party Lega Nord, met American presidential hopeful Donald Trump in Philadelphia in a face to face that reportedly lasted around twenty minutes.  The meeting took place on the sidelines of Trump’s last rally in Pennsylvania in relation to the Republican Party Primary.

Salvini arrived at the election event near Wilkes-Barre with Amato Berardi, the president of NIA-PAC, the National Italian American Political Action Committee, who aim to promote and protect Italian traditions, language and culture in the United States.  He then sat amongst the radical’s fans, holding a blue sign that read, “Trump. Make America Great Again.”  After the speeches the two met and posed for several photographs.

According to reports the American tycoon greeted Salvini by saying, “Matteo, I congratulate you on soon becoming Italy’s Prime Minister.”  It would seem that the Lega Nord leader had greeted Trump in a similar manner in regards to the elections for President of the United States.  Berardi also reported that on the subject of immigration there was a strong feeling of agreement between Salvini and Trump, above all on their belief of the necessity of developing targeted policies to help the populations that are fleeing hunger and poverty in their countries of origin as much as possible.

Another of their main points of discussion was economy.  Salvini was expected to remain in Philadelphia for the entirety of Tuesday before heading to Washington for a series of meetings.  After their meeting Salvini posted the photo of them both smiling together on social media with the caption: “Hello from the United States, friends.  Go, Donald, GO! #trump2016.”
