Video showing migrant influx: 1361 arrived Wednesday

 ROME -- A total of 1361 migrants were rescued in the Sicilian Channel on Wednesday in eight separate relief efforts, coordinated by the Operations Centre of the Rome Coastguard from the Infrastructure and Transport Ministry, the Italian Coastguard report.

 The Coastguard ship Dattilo CP940 rescued three rafts carring 313 migrants, of which 227 were men, 22 women and 64 children.  The Navy ship Chimera saved 364 migrants from another three rafts, whilst various coastguard patrol boats rescued a further 331.

 Frontex ship Siem Pilot recovered 222 migrants, whilst the ship Enterprise, inserted into the Eunavformed operation managed to save 131.

 Finally the operations on the part of Motovedette CP 323 and CP 325 leaving from Siracuse and Pozzallo to assist Siem Pilot took charge of a larger boat, carrying 350 migrants, who were for the most part minors.

 To accompany this news is a video from one of the Coastguard patrol boats that was assisting M/N Vento di Bora of the various operations they carried out and the situations they found the migrants in.
