Young Italian dies in fire in the Alps

ROME -- Early on Wednesday morning a fire tore through a building in the centre of Villars-sur Ollon, a ski resorts in the mountains of Vaud in Switzerland, killing a 21-year-old Italian. The young man is believed to be the son of the CEO of MSC Cruises.
Although police have said that identifying the body may take some time, they have confirmed that he was from Genoa and Italian media are claiming that the victim was Lorenzo Onorato, the son of Gianni Onorato, who joined MSC in 2013 as their CEO.
On Thursday MSC gave its condolences to the Onorato family.
There was a lucky escape by another 20-year-old who had been trapped in the building and managed to save himself by jumping out of the window from the third floor onto a pile of mattresses, which had been piled up by neighbours trying to help break his fall.
The building, a chalet complex in the Swiss Alps, near the ski resort of Villars-Gryon, was 5 stories high and contained 20 apartments, many of which were holiday homes, though a few were occupied throughout the year.
The cause of the fire is, as yet, unknown.
