ROME - Journalists at Velino have announced that they will remain on strike for six days from Monday 18 to Saturday 23 January, in protest against the new editorial plan and organisational preparation that was mailed to them on Friday. 

  As a result of this strike, Il Velino will be left with a workforce of only eight editors. 

  The director / editor Luca Simoni, in fact, had planned layoffs for the only editor in chief and for the eight department heads. 

  Il Velino staff were previously on strike for a large proportion of November and December 2015 to denounce the provocations and harassment by publisher and editor Luca Simoni, who used to inform about work shifts by e-mail and telegrams at inappropriate hours.
