Woman migrant's body found off coast of Apulia

BARI - The body of a woman has been recovered near rocks not far from Capo di Leuca in Apulia after a group of women was reportedly thrown into the water by migrant traffickers.
Research is under way in the waters of Capo di Leuca to find missing persons, who were originally part of a group of migrants from Somalia. It is alleged that the boat should carry 40 immigrants, yet traces were found of only 35.
On board the vessel, according to the recent findings, there were 21 women and one minor.
Carabinieri and divers are searching the local area, including Marina di Novaglie, where a group of migrants were found on the rocks, Capo di Leuca and Felloniche.
A man has been recovered at sea in a state of hypothermia, and has since been taken to the local hospital. According to investigators, three of the four women originally thrown into the water are still missing.
Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has recently said that the decriminalisation of illegal immigration is not a priority for him. “According to prosecutors, this offence is clogging up our court rooms, but it is also true that the illegal immigration has led to a feeling of insecurity. We will change the rules together without haste.”
"I believe that never before has it been more clear that Europe must have a unified position. The manner in which this work should be done are those that Italy has indicated from day one: no to demagoguery.”
