Fears of terrorist attacks will not stop Jubilee

ROME - Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the archbishop of Genoa and head of the Italian bishops conference CEI, said on Tuesday that cancelling the Jubilee would be a mistake and a big disappointment for pilgrims.

"I didn't notice any fears for the Jubilee neither among my brothers nor in the Christian communities," said the cardinal at the Pontifical University during the inauguration of the academic year.

"We should be more aware and careful, but there should by no panic among those, who want to pray on the tomb of St. Peter. If people are afraid to come, they have to make a decision by themselves, but I advise them to overcome the fear and join the Jubilee in Rome" added Bagnasco.

The cardinal commented also on measures taken against ISIS, saying he believes that the terrorists have to be isolated from both political and commercial point of view and no one should do business with them. "I believe, only full global isolation controlled by the UN is the only effective way" said Bagnasco.
