Sant'Egidio prayer for Paris victims

The prayer will take place in Trastevere

ROME - Following dramatic events for both France and the rest of Europe, the Community of Sant’Egidio invites everyone to a solemn “Prayer for peace in memory of the victims of Paris”.

The Community have said “We need to react to the climate of helplessness and resignation to violence, as seen in the horrific attacks on Friday night in the French capital. As believers, we invite all institutions belonging to different denominations, ordinary people, to participate in this, a moment of unity. We must revive our continent and the whole world and say "no" to those who want to destroy the idea of living together in harmony.”

France will be represented by the ambassador to the Holy See at the service, and Minister for Constitutional Reforms, Maria Elena Boschi, will represent the Italian Government, along with other senior policymakers and diplomats.

The event will take place this evening at 8:00 p.m. at Santa Maria Church in Trastevere.
