Tourist defaces Colosseum

ROME — An Austrian tourist has carved her name into a pillar of the Colosseum with a boxcutter. She has been charged by the police from the the Piazza Dante station in Rome with aggravated damage on buildings of historic and artistic interest.
The woman was stopped by personnel inside the Colosseum, whilst carving the letters “MDS” into pillar number 58 of the monument with a Swiss boxcutter.
Stopped by police, who were on patrol at the mobile station in front of the Colosseum, the 40-year old was identified and taken to the police station, where she was released on bail.
The boxcutter used to carve the letters was also seized.
