Investigators bust ISIS terror cell

Rome - After an operation lasting two years, Italian investigators arrested three men in Italy and Albania, who are suspected of being ISIS recruiters.

An Italian man with Moroccan heritage and an Albanian national were arrested in the Turin region of Italy with a further Albanian seized across the Adriatic in his home country. According to ANSA, the former is suspected of being the author of a 64 page Italian document, which has recently been broadcast on the Internet to encourage people to join the Islamic State.

“This morning three recruiters were arrested thanks to the police and magistrates and for the first time the special surveillance measure contained in the recent anti-terrorism decree, was applied,” said Interior Minister Angelino Alfano to Rai television. “This means that the system of prevention is working.”

The three suspected recruiters only form a tiny part of the ISIS members who have links to Italy. As part of the raid on Friday morning police searched dozens of homes in the Lombardy, Piedmont and Tuscany. These raids were conducted by the Italian anti-terror police, whose investigations into suspected recruiters are continuing.
