VATICAN CITY- Vatican judges will use "appropriate rigour" against a Femen activist who disrupted the pope's Urbi et Orbi address, Vatican chief spokesman Federico Lombardi says.
The Ukrainian activist with the word 'God' painted on her chest was arrested by a Vatican gendarme as she snatched a statue of baby Jesus from the nativity scene in St Peter's square and is being held in a police cell in the tiny city state pending trial on charges including "obscene acts in a public place," Lombardi said.
The Vatican court is likely to take a dim view of the feminist protest since three other Femen activists were arrested in November in St Peter's.
