Sordi’s sister leaves fortune to museum project

ROME- The will of Aurelia Sordi, sister of famous actor Alberto, revealed on Friday that his 100 million euro fortune would be used to create a museum in his memory.
The will named no other inheritors, despite previous speculation that the two siblings had many relatives who could feasibly have benefitted from the inheritance.
The will does however stipulate as a condition of the endowment that the Alberto Sordi Museum Foundation honour work contracts with a host of Aurelia’s personal staff, several of whom are currently under investigation for defrauding the 97-year-old of 2.5 million euros.
The suspected ring-leader of the scam, former chauffer Arturo Artadi, caused controversy by attending Aurelia’s funeral in central Rome two weeks ago.
Other notable attendees at the funeral included film producer Aurelio de Laurentiis, and former Roman mayor Francesco Rutelli. Laurentiis praised Aurelia as “an extraordinary woman,” whilst Rutelli expressed his certainty that “the glory of Alberto Sordi cannot be marred by the problems surrounding his legacy.”
Up to 37 relatives of the Sordis could pursue a civil suit against Artadi and other staff members, on the claim that Aurelia was coerced into favouring them in her will.
Alberto Sordi’s fortune includes a villa on via Druso overlooking Circo Massimo in the historic centre of Rome, which is set to become a museum dedicated to his life and work with the legacy left by his late sister.
