Ruby sex case: Berlusconi not guilty

ROME– A Milan appeals court Friday overturned a seven-year prison term against Silvio Berlusconi for paying for sex with an underage prostitute and attempting to cover up the event.
The media mogul, 73, allegedly had sex with a Moroccan girl, Karima ‘Ruby’ El Mahroug, before she was 18. The ex prime minister’s defense claim however that Berlusconi did not have intercourse with Ruby and that he did not know she was underage when she came to his house.
Franco Coppi, one of Berlusconi’s defense lawyer’s stated; "The verdict goes beyond our rosiest predictions.”
In the numerous criminal cases against Berlusconi, the ex prime minister has denied wrongdoing and claimed that he is merely the victim of a minority group of allegedly left-wing prosecutors and judges.
On Friday, whilst judges were evaluating the sex case, Berlusconi went to an old people’s home in Milan to carry out his weekly community service in relation to a separate tax-fraud conviction. The ex prime minister still has a year left of his four-year tax-fraud community sentence.
