Teenager dies in jumping accident

ROME-A 14-year-old Scot has died in a gorge jumping accident near Turin during an adventure holiday with his Explorer Scout group on Sunday.
The accident happened at around 6000ft at Gran Paradiso national park, where the scout group were on a week long activity camp for the summer holidays. The group were said to be gorge scrambling-a low-level combined water and rock activity that involves walking up and down a river gorge and jumping into pools.
The teenager identified as Elliot Alexander Peacock, attended Eastwood High School, died after jumping just two feet into water. The young scout lost consciousness as he entered the water, although making no contact with the surrounding rocks and was immediately rescued by air ambulance medics.
The Scout Association in Scotland explained the incident in more detail; "Although he was immediately rescued from the water and given CPR, tragically he could not be resuscitated. The thoughts and condolences of all at Acorn Adventure are with his family and friends; the team’s efforts are fully focused on ensuring they are supported in any way possible.
They also expressed their condolences by adding that they were "devastated" that the youngster had died and offered their "thoughts and prayers" to the family.
